Request From Our Youth Commission
We hope this finds you well and your child off to a great school year! The kids seem to really be enjoying the USY lounges and activities. This year, the STS Youth Commission has decided to change the "pizza for dinner" tradition at lounges and we hope you will support our decision. There are 2 main reasons we've made this change...
1) It's a healthier choice to serve snacks on a regular basis. This doesn't mean there won't be exceptions. For example, if your child's birthday is approaching and you'd like to bring a birthday cake or treat everyone to pizza (KOSHER, of course), you're more than welcome to. But generally, it will be healthier to have snacks.
2) By having the parents volunteer to provide snacks for the USYers, we will save a significant amount of money each year. This money will directly benefit your child in terms of scholarships for upcoming events!
So, here is our request... We would like each family to bring snacks for 1 USY lounge a year, serving approx. 25-30 kids. These snacks could be anything; some of the suggestions are fruit, veggies, hummus, salsa, chips, pretzels, pirates' booty, popcorn, yogurt, string cheese, etc. We are ONLY asking that you make sure what you donate is KOSHER, of course. If you'd rather make a contribution and have one of us do the shopping, that's fine. We are asking for a contribution of $20 to do so.
A calendar will be sent out shortly, asking you to commit to a date. This coming Wednesday is taken care of. We just wanted to take this opportunity to explain the changes and give you each a chance to think about a date that works for you.
As always, we appreciate your support and help to make this a great year for the kids! We all feel so lucky to have Charlene leading the USYers and know it's going to be a great one!
