Our tradition teaches us that there are two types of prayer. Keva, fixed prayer, and kavana, spontaneous prayer. At STS, our prayer services offer a unique blend of fixed and spontaneous prayer. While our liturgy is fixed and traditional, the melodies and environments in which we pray are special and unique. From the intimacy of our Daily Minyan in the Heytow Chapel both morning and evening, to the Shabbat morning traditional Sanctuary service, from the monthly family service for our pre-B'nai Mitzvah students to the Shabbat Under the Stars summer gathering on our schoolyard, there is a prayer experience for everyone.
Come and explore the different options and pathways to prayer. Do you like the music of the legends? Participate in our 5th Shabbat, where we sing the Friday evening liturgy to the music of the likes of Billy Joel, Neil Diamond, the beach Boys and many more. Do you love Shabbat at camp? Shabbat Under the Stars is for you! Do you like to learn with your children? Come and enjoy our family services.
Our musical services are conducted by our Rabbis and the talented musicians in our synagogue who comprise the Shomrei Torah Shabbat Band.
