The Shomrei Torah Synagogue Youth Department (STSYD) is a member of United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism (USCJ) and we are part of their Far West region. The Far West Region encompasses Southern California, Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, southern Nevada and Hawaii. We see the extended region at the monthly regional events. We mainly interact with our local chapters. STSYD provides children with a nurturing and safe environment, a caring and professional staff, and lots of enriching activities from lounge nights, Shabbat dinners and social programs, to kinnusim & conventions. We offer a wide variety of programs to ensure we have the perfect activity for your child's interests, needs, and schedule. During the year, staff will ask parents to assist with transportation and/or chaperone duties, or to help with chapter events. Your participation in this part of your child's life demonstrates the value you place on Jewish community.
All groups participate in mitzvot, tzedakah and social action projects, in addition to fun activities such as holiday-related arts & crafts, social outings and much more. All these activities and projects promote bonding and build group trust. The synagogue has a Youth Lounge that is meant to be a second home to our children. We want them to feel at home when they are at Shomrei Torah and have a special place to call their own.
Our Youth Department consists of several sub-groups. Please click on any group below for further information.
